Hidden Bosnia and Herzegovina

Hidden Bosnia and Herzegovina, from Zadar. Bihać, Ostrožac castle, Bosanska Krupa, located on the banks of the Una River. A leisurely drive towards Bosnia and Herzegovina with occasional stops.

We will stop at Ostrošac and visit the castle.
Every fortress has its own story, and one of the stories is related to the medieval town of Ostrožac, one of the most impressive buildings in the Una-Sana Canton in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This breathtaking architectural masterpiece actually consists of medieval and Turkish remains of walls, bastions and towers. This jewel of the von Berks family, nobles originally from England, also has a real art gallery under the open sky. It is full of monumental sculptures, which adorn the large courtyard of the former Ostrožac town. In winter, Ostrožac looks like a guardian on a hill above the Una River.
After Ostrošac, we continue towards Bosanska Krupa. City tour with a local guide.

Bosanska Krupa is an idyllic little town on the Una River. What kind of town can be on the Una River but beautiful?
A green oasis made up of 8 small river islands on the Una River, connected by romantic wooden pedestrian bridges, cannot leave you indifferent.
A row of restaurants along the Una River, and the entire town faces the Una River. You get the impression that the center of all events is the Una River. You come across another bridge and there you are, on the Green Islands. The Una River itself carried alluvium and accumulated it along its course. Clean and clear, it is no wonder that many consider it the most beautiful river in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Although Bosnia and Herzegovina is known as a country of three constituent peoples with the three most represented religions: Orthodoxy, Islam and Catholicism, you do not often have the opportunity to see a mosque, an Orthodox and a Catholic church within a 100-meter radius, in one view. The mosque was built during the Ottoman Empire. The Orthodox church was built on this site between the Turkish rule and the arrival of the Austro-Hungarians.
How did Bosanska Krupa get its name? Once upon a time, in ancient times, in the valley of the Una and Krušnica rivers, there lived a beautiful girl named Krupana. She built the Pset fortress on a hill, around which the city would later develop.
There are also opinions that Bosanska Krupa got its name from the Old Slavic word “krupa”.

A lunch is in one of the restaurants along the river Una.

We will also go to the honey house where you can buy honey, soaps, and handmade cosmetics. A tradition that has been around for over 40 years where you have the opportunity to buy homemade honey.

Enjoy hidden Bosnia and Herzegovina.
