Adriatic

The Adriatic Sea is a body of water separating the Italian Peninsula from the Balkan peninsula. The Adriatic Sea is a part of the Mediterranean Sea.

The western coast is Italian, while the eastern coast is mostly Croatian. The Adriatic Sea is situated largely between the eastern coast of Italy and Croatia.

The mean depth of the sea is estimated at 240 m.

The west shore is generally low.
The east coast is generally bold and rocky, with many islands.

• The Croatian Adriatic Sea is an attractive destination for scuba diving. It attracts many lovers of the underwater world.No diving zones include the National Parks Brijuni, Krka, Kornati and Mljet.

Most of Croatian beaches are not sandy, but gravel, pebble or rocky.
