Villa Tereza in Konavle has a long and wealthy history. The villa was originally mentioned back in the second half of the 18th century. Although the history doesn’t start there, in the 15th century the charming chapel located in the villa’s gardens was constructed. It can be also be assumed, although the history books are vague, that the chapel was built by a noble family that once upon a time owned the villa. The only remaining evidence of the villas existence today is a land right to the property by the Caboga in 1891. Villa Tereza has stood proudly overlooking the rolling hills of Konavle for centuries.

The courtyard, with a feature Konavle style window and a magnificent Cyprus tree in the center, will leave you intrigued, this is an entrance to impress and it works. The living room oozes class, the fusion of the traditional and the modern is a feature that continues throughout the whole villa. The villa stands surrounded by a spacious and typically Mediterranean garden. Fling open the shutters of your bedroom and you’ll be greeted by a green oasis, a garden that makes the villa the ideal location for the whole family.

And there is plenty of room inside the villa to spread your wings with four bedrooms located on the first floor each luxuriously decorated. Three bedrooms have balconies with panoramic views over the gorgeous Konavle countryside, ideal for morning coffee or with a cocktail as the sun sets. Konavle

Konavle

Konavle is a place in the south of Croatia and it is the most southern part of Dubrovnik Riviera. Konavle is separated from the sea by a chain of lower hills. There are 30 villages  and the largest villages are Cilipi and Gruda.

The name Konavle derives from the Latin word “canale”, “canalis”.In the local dialect “konali”, “kanali”, what is connected with the viaduct, which, in the times of the Romans carried water from Vodovađa to Epidaurum- today’s Cavtat.

  • Konavle is a region with particular natural beauties and contrasts: mountain and valley, green hills and naked stone, the blue and the green. Konavle will fascinate everyone by the mountains in the North, bordered by the Adriatic Sea in the South.

There is a rural architecture, numerous monuments of the thousand-year-old history of this area. The tradition is kept through folklore, the distinctive traditional costumes of Konavle and the Konavle`s embroidery. In Konavle, you can find the harmony of life and the nature and Konavle will stay in your memory as the unique and recognisable experience.

Although Konavle is a relatively small area, we distinguish three different parts in Konavle: the rocky coast, the central part – the field and the mountain region. The northern mountain part is dominated by the mountain massif of Sniježnica /1234 m/ and Bjelotina. The fertile Konavle field represents the central part of Konavle and there is the Bay of Župa with its beautiful coves and peninsulas. Almost one third of the area of Konavle is covered with forests: macchias, pines and cypresses predominate, you can also find oak  forests.

The climate in Konavle is the Mediterranean: mild winters, dry and hot summers, the winds are jugo, bora  and the mistral. The agricultural cultures are the wine-growing and the olive but you can find the other fruit and garden cultures.

Konavle is for people who like peace, nature and vacation without stress.
