Zagreb’s Upper Town is a network of little streets that stretch between two hills: Kaptol and Gradec. It is a delightful place to explore and hosts some of Zagreb’s most interesting bars, cafes and restaurants.
Tkalciceva is Zagreb’s most colorful street and Tkalciceva is filled with little cafes that could only be described as “bohemian”. Nearby is the Stone Gate containing a shrine to the Virgin Mary that is believed to possess magical powers.
There is Ban Jelačić Square. Ban Jelačić Square or Trg bana Jelačića is Zagreb’s main square. Here you will see the giant statue to its namesake.
Very famous is Dolac Market. Dolac market has been thriving since the first half of the 20th century. There you can buy fresh vegetables, fruits ….and it attracts many people and tourists. However, if you’re looking for a souvenir, you’ll find them here, too. Lace, traditional shoes, embroidered cloths, umbrellas and more you can find at this market.
Famous St Mark`s Church is on St Mark Square and multi-colored tile roof is constructed in 1880. St. Mark’s church is an iconic Zagreb emblem with its colorful tiled roof that shows the coat of arms of the city and another one representing Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatia.
The rest of the church dates from the 13th century. St Mark Square is also the site of the Croatian Sabor or Parliament and the Ban’s Palace.
Every day at noon you can hear a cannon which is fired from Lotrsčak Tower. It commemorates Zagreb’s victory over the Turks.
Every year a lot of tourists come in Zagreb.

Zagreb is historical town. There are many churches, museums... You must visit Stone Gate in Kaptol. The stone gate that was once a part of the fortifications around Kaptol and contains a special shrine. Visitors come there to light a candle in front of the painting of the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus. Kaptol, Zrinjevac, Theatre..you must see it!!Esplanade
